Tate Modern

lee krasner's work at tate modern Posted by Hello

Visited tate modern, the national museum that houses international modern art. London has two tate galleries and the other is Tate Britain, which houses British art from the past to the present day. The permanent fixtures of work includes major artits like Dali, Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, Pollock as well as contemporary artists like Damian Hirst. There are seasonal exhibits and some of the coming ones include work of Frida Kahlo and Degas.
I dropped off at Blackfriars tube station and took a walk to Tate Modern via the millennium bridge. The place has 7 floors and is sectioned according to the different genre of art; still life/landscape/object/nude/matter.. There are two major stores that sells a wide selection of artbooks for all ages. You name it, they have it.. The experience was unbelievable.. seeing the actual works of the artists we can only read and study about, right infront of my face. The texture.. the stroke.. The most overwhelming one was entering the room, which houses both Pollock and Lee Krasner's work.. Though photography was not allowed, I sneaked a shot of one of Lee's work. Seeing Pollock's drip painting, one can feel the intensity and movement of his strokes.. The paintings were filled with such energy. Such intensity and appreciation beat seeing the works on paper or books.. The other ones will have to be Claude Monet's paintings of water lilies, Matisse's collage, Picasso's nude painitngs and Piet Mondrian's distinctive works..
