GSE @ PowerJam 2007, Zouk (25 Jul 2007)

GSE was the guest band for PowerJam/ Singapore Music Awards 2007 at Zouk last Wednesday. It wasn't a set we are proud of due to the poor acoustics as we couldn't do a soundcheck in the afternoon due to work commitments and Saiful's guitar strings broke at the start of our first song, 'Class A Love Affair'. We made the best of it and finished the set. The crowd was nice and accommodating though. So thank you dear fans and friends who came down and showed us your love that night. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the kind dude who lent Saiful your guitar so we could finish the set. Thank you and God bless. And congratulations Shirlyn Tan and our dear friends from Electrico for winning the different awards this year. =)

I miss our travels already

I miss New York! Actually, I just miss boarding that plane to somewhere far away, where I don't have to think about how I am going to wake up at 6am in the morning for work the next day or constantly keeping track of datelines after datelines. My last trip was to Bangkok and Krabi last June. The photos are all in Fandy's camera and it seems to take forever for him to pass them to me. Sigh.. Anyway, I have done really quite abit of travels for 2007, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Austin, New York, Bangkok and Krabi. As we await the arrival of our precious, we don't have the budget to get out of the country any time soon.. Sob..

my new top

Sweetie bought me a top and 2 dresses on Friday. Here are the pics of the black top with hand-sewn flower motifs on the front. I will be wearing one of the dresses for the Power98 Singapore Music Awards on Wednesday. As for the other dress, wait for our album, 'Flower Show Riots'. I wore it for the album sleeve photo shoot. =)

'Stop Violence In The Home' campaign - 22Jul2007

Woke up early and got ready to sell some products for the campaign. Arrived at Plaza Singapura early for the product and campaign briefing. Song and I managed to sell the high-shine lip gloss to a mother who bought it for her ten-year-old daughter. Thank you so much Auntie. I managed to sell the lip gloss and the minty lip balm to a colleague who came down with her son to show her support. Thank you Alifah. Other than that, we got a couple of shifty looks and a Auntie who thought that I was doing a promotion for Starhub. Selling the products with celebrities like Nadya Hutalagung was good fun.

my new Ipod Video

Sweetie surprised me with this lovely, lovely gift last Thursday. My Ipod Mini died on me in March but I must say it has served me well for the past two years. Sweetie's Ipod gave up on him last year and I bought him an Ipod Video (White) for his birthday this year so that it will keep him company on our long flights to the US last March and April. As for myself, I had been using the PSP. However, I just listen to the songs in my phone at the gym cos the PSP is rather bulky to exercise with. For a while, I was using my CD player which I bought for myself when I was 19. It is amazing that it still works. Everyone was shocked to see that alien-looking ginomous device called the Sony Discman. Heh.

I love my new Ipod Video. It keeps me company in the train, in the cab, at the gym, at work and list goes on and on. What is on loopmode in my Ipod right now is 'Thunder' by Boys Like Girls. Thank you so much, Baby. You never fail to surprise me.

love-love MacBook is 3 months old!

Finally, we bought our first MacBooks and we both went for the black ones. To complement them, we bought the wireless Mighty Mouse. It has been three months now and I love my MacBook. It has been really useful for Sweetie cos he can now do his video-editing with ease.

Join us and be the voice for The Bodyshop 'Stop Violence In The Home' campaign

Tonight, GSE join many others and became the 'voice' for The Bodyshop SVITH campaign. We did the campaign video just hours ago. Suddenly, I became the voice representing the band for this campaign and I got nervous. There was so much more I wanted to say. The best I could make out of was:

"Hi, we are The Great Spy Experiment. Help us show our support for 'Stop Violence In The Home Campaign'. Help us create an awareness for an abuse that has been kept under wraps. so buy a product, support the campaign and be their voice."

Sigh.. I wanted to say so much more but I stumbled upon words which I don't usually have problems with. What I really wanted to put across is the need for an awareness for home violence so that children have a safe and secure environment to grow up in. The little ones should also be able to exercise their human rights to want to live in a safe and secure world and they need us to help them break the silence. We must do what we can to protect these little lives and let them know things can change and violence can end. By being their voice, we are already creating a change.

So join us in this pursuit to stop home violence. The products that will be on sale for the campaign at The Bodyshop outlets are the Hi-Shine lip gloss and the Mint Lip Care Stick and full proceeds will go to Promoting Alternatives to Violence (PAVe). Products will be on sale from 19th July 2007.
