UTOPIA

Do I believe in utopia?
My social opinions are so contrary to the prevailing thinking in the society today. It is a disease that conforming to standards are widespread today. But is conforming really cancerous? Or is there a need for order within the chaos?

Many might define "utopia" as "a place of ideal perfection". To me, its never a place but a concept which keeps people going and doing what they do each day; to believe there is hope. Plato's utopia is too idealistic to exist in the the world today, which is simply too complex for anyone to constitute a state of "perfection", which is nothing more than the by-product of abstract thoughts.

The world we live in today is infested with materialistic and power-seeking motives that there is often a tendency to associate ideals with the pursuit of visionary social systems. The society has conditioned many to believe that obligations and responsibility is synonymous with obedience to their dictates of status and to conform. Our structured world has become so destructive of life that nobody ever indulge in fantasies about idealized systems dreamed about by the "romantics" long time ago. Many people identify our sense of being with existing institutional social entities thus labeling critics of such systems, like moi, as "utopians" to dismiss adverse judgments. Everyone should believe they can allow others to have coercive power over their lives but yet limit the exercise of such power at the same time.
